Personal background
Semi-retired systems analyst with way too much time on my hands. long time Dr. Seuss fan, who communicates regularly with E.T.s., five of whom currently share my living quarters. it should be noted they bear a striking resemblance to felis catus.

we currently live in overpriced and over paved southern california, although our dreams are filled with spacious homes in the country with trees, wild animals, and yes, even precipitation from time to time. (it is true that for the most part it NEVER rains in (southern) california.)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run Seti@home because my co-habitants insist on it.

kidding aside, i run seti because i like the feeling that i am participating, albeit in a very small way, in something fabulous and monumental. since i can't be 'there' manning the radio telescopes, i can still be here, silently and for the most part anonymously crunching numbers, in the quest for E.T.s.

besides, who's to say, that my humble set-up won't be the one to stumble across the magic WOW sound, should it ever reappear? and wouldn't that just be the cat's meow?! (so to speak).

I also run folding@home, and hope to soon participate in the newest BOINC project, stardust@home.
