Personal background
I'm from Braga, Portugal and I'm an Electrotechnics Engineer starting my (small) business with an Engineering Cabinet of Electrical Projects and Instalations. I started to read science books and watch Sci-Fi movies and serials very early. So, when I finally had a broadband connection, I could not resist to participate in this project, along with Rosetta's (it's important not to forget life here on Earth as well).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
About these projects, Seti@Home in particular, I only have one thing against: my computer still haven't found anything!
I deeply believe that life exists somewhere else in the universe. Maybe not like our (or even the portrayed by Star Wars, Galactica, etc.), but some kind of life. Maybe even near us, in moons like Callisto or Europe.
Maybe we are the only intelligent kind of life that exists or the only one that still didn't destroyed itself, or maybe the other kinds of life are so advanced that we might be receiving their radio, or whatever, signals but unable to identify them. Still, I joined this project because I believe and hope that a signal (an inteligent one) from outerspace will arrive in my lifetime I will, somehow, be a part of the big family that believes that Earth is not the only living planet!
