Personal background
Hi friends. My name is Tony. I live in Texas (orig from Michigan) I'm 30 yrs old, and a Problem Solver in a factory for an auto maker. Just the average blue collar worker interested in things much bigger than me I guess. As for hobbies, I'm a hardware junkie.."if it can be connected to a PC...it will be connected to a PC"...that's my motto, if you don't believe me just ask my Camaro SS. If I can be pulled away from my Beowulf Cluster (PCx7) when I'm not working, I like to play trivia, or golden tee at the local pub, XBOX, pc games. I'm a motorcycle fanatic too although it hasn't been as much fun as it use to. I think defensive driving had to have been invented here (with reason) To sum me up, I would say I'm just like anybody else. Although I do like stimulating conversations of the origins of the universe, string theory, quantum mechanics, whether or not its just us, things of that nature. I like to share my thoughts with others and am always interested in hearing others' thoughts on these subjects. If any one is interested in sharing or hearing some ideas, email me at stringtheery@aol.com.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
After explaining to friends what SETI is, some have looked at me and questioned why I'm involved in SETI with a look in their eyes like I'm crazy or delusional (I think my beowulf cluster and 4 monitors running the SETI screensaver is a little overwhelming for them). I have been involved in SETI under different names for quite a few years. Seems like I started in 98 if I remember correctly. It's one of the coolest, and as far as I'm concerned, one of the most important projects I've ever been apart of. Most may not realize the importance of what we are doing, or may (probably) think were crazy, but one day that "signal heard round the world" is gonna change all that, so I'm sticking with it.
