Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
yep, there must be others out there. We will find them if the funding stays up with the technologies etc.
I doubt if there will be many direct benifits from finding any "others" out there as first contacts will be via
radio type signals etc. It will not be from some space dudes flying to us to throw a shrimp on the barbie!
The biggest danger will be to religions. People will really start to question the existance of god.
I wonder if humans are ready to stand up on thier own two feet with out the support of a god etc. Time WILL answer this question!
I would think that the only thing we could send in a "signal" would be mathmatics as we would not have any common language but maths wether we are correct with our maths or not etc
"they" will know that we are intellegent to some level. Just the sending of a radio signal powerfull enough to reach "Somebody" out there is
really proof enough for them.
I'm running stei at home because it is my little bit to help the global community of humanity. maybe this one in 3 billion will be the one!! : )
