Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I learnt about SETI@home back in October 1999 from one of my university housemates who was running it on his PC - I thought the screensaver looked so cool that I had to have it on my PC! Since then I've got more interested in the science side as well and I now use the CLI version for maximum WU crunching performance.
I'm sure there are some ETI's out there - the universe is so vast that there must be someone else out there somewhere! Although I'm not sure we'll discover them any time soon as the distances involved are so vast, we'll never find out unless we try.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
