Personal background
Hi everyone,

My name is Shane Jenkins. Im 22 and live in Perth Western Australi. I am currently studying, towards my Astrophysics Degree.

I became interested in the SETI programme after watching the movie Contact. I conected with the film at many levels.

My Favourite line from the movieand my personal quote for this activity is:
If there is no one else out there, then it's an awful waste of space.

I am also active in other areas of Astronomy such as the search for N.E.O's

My hobbies are looking up at the night sky, basketball, listening to music and reading.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm not sure that extraterrestrial life does exist but as i have said before,
If there is no one else out there, then it's an awful waste of space!
I don't think that life will be discovered in my time, but when it is, it will show that we are not alone. I believe that the world isn't ready for contact yet.We need to sort out our own problems first, so that we are a united people when the discovery is made.At the moment we are at the point where people want to destroy what they dont understand.

I feel that humans should transmit a beacon but it's message should be short and to the point. Along the lines of:
We the people of Earth offer Friendly greetings.

I run seti@home so that i feel that i am making a real contribution to a good cause...The discovery that we ae not alone.
