Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
ET, whom ever they are, certainly does exist. I think it's foolish to think WE, the humans of Earth, are the only sentient life forms in the vast of the universe.
I predict we'll discover intelligent life, or be discovered by the same, in the next century. I think the benefits would be the cultrual exchanges that would occur, the information and technology exchange would probably barage us where we'll need another 100 years to digest it all. The dangers of such a discovery is the mass enslavement of the human species as a whole!

Beacons for other to find? Didn't we already do that with a few satellites, sent off past the gas giants of the solar system?

I run SETI@Home because I like being involved in such a huge project. I've always being interested in UFOs and the like, ever since I saw my first Science Fiction movie - Forbidden Planet! I think the project is a smashing success... maybe we haven't found "ET" yet, but this project crosses all geographical and cultrual boundaries and brings about healthy competition through the use of teams. I'm Hooked!
