Profile: Soren Lund

Personal background
Ok, here are some facts concerning me:

  • I live in Denmark with my wife, Linda.
  • I work for CSC as a senior systems developer, primarily with web-technologies.
  • I was born in 1966.
  • I got a Master of Science degree in Engineering. I graduated from the Technical University of Denmark in 1995.

I (obviously) have an interest for computers - not only do I work with computers, I also have several at home. Luckily my wife also likes using the computer, for games, e-mail, surfing and chatting.

When not playing with computers, I like playing role playing games. Well actually only one: Dungeons & Dragons (the original with some house rules). I play with som old friends from university (and a couple from before that), and we\\'ve played the same game for almost ten years now.

Besides playing D&D, I like to play (board) games in general: RoboRally, Mutant Chronicles, Empire Builder, Risk and Lord of the Rings are some of the current favorites.

I enjoy watching movies, listening to music and reading (both fiction and non-fiction). My wife and I watch a lot of movies, preferably in the movie theater, but a couple of rented DVDs on a lazy sunday afternoon is also nice. We have, more or less, the same (broad) taste in music. I don\\'t get the time to read as much as I would like - but I did read Lord of the Rings again, after seeing the great Peter Jackson movie.

There\\'s more, I guess, but this is it, for now...

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I\\'m pretty sure extraterrestrial life exists, or rather has existed or will exist. The universe is big and old, and humans has only been around for a very short time - and will only be around for a short time (unless we find a way to colonise other star system, before the Sun collapses and engulfs Earth.) So chances are that we are all alone right now.

But it\\'s our nature to be curious. To look up in the sky and wonder.

I joined the SETI@home project for two reasons, the technical aspect of using spare computer time, and to look up in the sky with a little help from the SETI@home team - thanks.
