Personal background
Hello,
I'm single, aged 32 and living in Cambridge in the UK, i am currently working for the British Antarctic Survey.
My hobbies are Photography, Astronomy, music, ornithology and video games, i love the countryside and animals too.
I'm a vegeterian and i gave up smoking and drinking a year ago so i can become a healthier individual, i should get more exercise, but hey, i don't want to get to healthy.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do think extraterrestrial life exists but we could discover it any time, buy any means.
The problems i have with the whole thing is that any other civilisation that existed in our galaxy alone could be long gone so we may discover signals from their past and therefore never meet.
The dangers of us meeting a civilised ET are obviously that they would possibly become a dominant species on our planet, also as an introduced species they could do a lot of harm to our planet with biological organisms or viruses etc.
Not sure about the beacon thing i'll give it some thought.
I run set@home because we as a race need to know if we are part of a galactic neighbourhood and i want to help find out.
