Personal background
I'm a high school student, interesting in computers and electronics, running a webserver out of my basement, although it doesn't do anything significant yet.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think extraterrestrial life exists, but I think that humans will have a rather low chance of finding it, because I doubt it will be intelligent, or that it will be just like us, using radio telescopes to try and find us, but failing. If we do find extraterrestrial intelligence, it would open up huge opportunities for trade and bartering, increasing knowledge and more, but also would make hostilities possible, if they're anything like our own species.

I run SETI@home on my personal computer, and may install the software on others, because I think its interesting, and a good use of all those clock cycles I don't use.

What really ought to be done is the program for nuclear rocket engines be restarted, and a carbon nanotube space elevator contructed. However its not costing much to do this search for ETI, so I'm all for it.

I think it would also be far more productive to have NASA be a regulatory body and not a creative body, because it would promote the free-market our country really wants.
