Personal background |
I'm a 30 year old computer tech at UPS in Reno Nevada USA.
I have seti running on 3 pc's at home (pentium II 300, AMD 366, and an AMD 1.4.) The pc names are easy to remember because they are "his" "hers" and "theirs". Believe it or not I'm running win2k on the slow boxes and Linux Mandrake on the fast one. Don't ask it's a long story. If it were up to me I'd have Mandrake on all of them. I'm also running seti on my mom's and brother's pc's. I just set the command line version to run as a scheduled task in the background after 5 minutes of idle time. When they go to use the computer the task ends. I told them I was doing that, but since they never see it, I doubt they remember or even care. That added an AMD 1.2 and a pentium II 300 to the ranks.
Just a side note for all of you Linux lovers and for that matter the rest of you too. Check the DS webpage under OS's and you will see that they are evaluating RedHat Linux for use at UPS. Looks like Corporate is getting sick of Microsoft's licencing schemes too!
