Profile: Yves Grosdidier

Personal background
Postdoctoral research with Pr. S. Lovejoy (Group for the Analysis of Nonlinear Variability in Geophysics, McGill University, Montreal, Canada).

The general theme of my research is related to the application of multifractals in the context of astrophysical and geophysical turbulence, in particular 2D/3D radiative transfer in highly inhomogeneous and isotropic and/or stratified media.

Research Interests:

•Astrophysical turbulence in HII regions; quantitative characterization of the turbulent parameters (intermittency, degree of non-homogeneity); clumping in hot-star winds;

•2D/3D radiative transfer in astrophysical and terrestrial clouds: Monte Carlo simulations (multiple scattering optically thick media), Green’s function method (single scattering optically thin media) and Discrete Angle Radiative Transfer; analysis of cloud radiances;

•Radiation hydrodynamics and line-driving; structure and dynamics of hot-star atmospheres (Wolf-Rayet, Luminous Blue Variables and Be stars, central stars of Planetary Nebulae).
