Profile: John Bucsek

Personal background
I'm Originally from New Brunswick, NJ in the USA and now live in Portland, Oregon, after spending a few years in the 90's in Orlando, FL. I work in the semiconductor industry and have been into computers since I bought a TRS-80 (4.8 MHz Z-80 w/ 48k of RAM) back in 1977.

I enjoy the outdoors and enjoy bicycle riding and hiking. The computer hobby has waned as the hobbyist aspect isn't as prevalent as it once was. I finally got my Amateur Radio license in 2008 (KE7WNB) and now also spend time chatting on the air. I can be found frequently listening to the main channel of the Western IRLP reflector, as well as working the HF bands.

I believe there is life on other planets as there are too many stars and planets in the universe for life not to have evolved elsewhere too (I've always liked Sagan's reasoning on the odds).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Basically I agree that my computer might as well be contributing to SETI@home when it's idle. It's a great idea for a project and hopefully we will detect signs of another civilization out there.
