Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
For me it's more like a sportive challenge. There are so many yet unknown variables about possible lifeforms out there that noone with a clear mind could determine which would be the best way to find E.T.

So, why not through SETI@home? See, there's the old rule that you can't win a race if you don't run at all.

I have seen JFK die. I have seen the Berlin wall being built and destroyed. I've seen the twin towers being built and destroyed. I've seen the first man on the moon. I've seen my son come to life and grow up. Seeing a contact with an E.T. lifeform would be another peak of my life's story.
