Profile: Mark Stingley

Personal background
I\\'m a Linux Systems Administrator and InfoSec Analyst who has recently finished a 4 1/2 year tour of duty in NYC and returned to the Houston/Galveston area of Texas. Currently, I am proud to work for the University of Texas Health Science Center - Houston.

I\\'ve been a IT specialist since 1981, a Linux fan since 1994, a veteran of both the US Navy and Texas State Guard, and a Native Texan. A \\"real\\" people person, my motto is \\"team members don\\'t fail, only team leaders\\".

My advice to you: never give up - dream, imagine, keep on keeping on, never do harm to others, but never let harm be done to you. Keep your feet on the ground and your head in the stars.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home because I\\'ve got lots of CPU power to spare, and it\\'s worth a try to see if there really is intelligent life in the universe; assuming that we haven\\'t yet found it on this planet.

Who knows, we might someday get this message from afar that tells us they\\'ve been watching our TV news and outlines the cure for death, war, and bad sitcoms.
