Personal background |
I'm from the USA, age 32, I work in the field of Mental Health. I read a lot, especialy on spiritual topics. I concider myself to be fairly open minded in such matters. I believe intelligent life is out there, which is why I joined the SETI@home project. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I run SETI@home because I believe we should be trying to make contact. If friendly ET's exist, it should benifit us to contact them for scientific and intellectual reasons. If hostile ET's exist, it will pay dividends to be aware of their presence BEFORE they show up on our doorstep.
My view of the project is that searching the sky for signals is costly and may not pay off in the long run. However, I do believe it is the best coarse of action none-the-less.
My suggestion is to give raises to the R&D teams (with tax money/Government funding!) and keep them working overtime! We must supply ourselves with the best possable technologies and equipment. |
