Personal background
I'm a self-employed web designer, soon to be married to a beautiful, smart, funny chemical engineer. I live and work in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada and my business has started on an upturn, something I'm quite happy for.

I'm a big fan of Carl Sagan, science, and yes, science-fiction, though I have no pretenses that SETI will magically discover the cure for all that ails us.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I share the opinion with many others that if life doesn't exist out there, it'd be a pretty big waste of space.

I do believe that, barring super-advanced aliens who just show up to say "Hello", that we will first learn of intelligent life on other worlds through SETI.

I run SETI@home because I believe that finding other intelligent life, as remote a possibility as it is, may be the greatest discovery mankind could ever make. That alone makes it worthwhile.
