Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes, I do think that we are not alone.
Otherwise it would be indeed a tremendous waste of space. (Hmm, I think I've heard this somewhere before :-)...)
I don't know if we find something in my age and I don't know if there are other (and maybe better) ways to discover life out there.
Where would mankind be if nobody had discover America?
So there is something new to discover! New... unknown... full of secrets...
The truth is out there.
Let us find out the answers to some questions of the universe (and I'm not sure the answer is 42).
I do my very best!

I've heard about Seti long before the movie with Jodie Foster, and I always thought this is an important project but I haven't heard about Seti@home before May 2001. The same day I found the URL in an article I became a user.

I think that we need aliens to help us to get through our major problems.
We need aliens to see how familiar our neighbours really are, that the color of a skins or another religion is no reason to kill someone, to begin a war.
We need a lifeform more intelligent than we are to tell us that we are about to destroy our planet. Hopefully the presidents of our planet would believe them (because they don`t believe us!).

We need CONTACT to survive.
