Personal background
Born and grown up in a part of germany which is so flat that you can see today who will visit you tomorrow.
When I was a little boy I dreamt about becoming an astronaut. (Is there any male human being who didn't dream the same dream?) Now more than 30 years later, I found myself being a purchase manager of a worldwide acting company that builds davits and other survival equipments. Absolutely lifesaving and neccessary of course, but you can not fly and visit stars with. Too bad.
Nov. 1st 1997 a dream came true : I saw nativity of a star ....... my own star and he is called Jannik Alexander. ...... ;o)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Well it is no question for me whether there is life out there. Naturally there is !!!
And I hope finding them will prevent us from going on doing the silly cruel things we did (just remember sept. 11th. 2001). May be mankind then will become "intelligent" and adult.

So for me SETI is NOT an expensive crackbrained search for extraterrestic intelligence, as some folks call it. For me it is THE thing that logically has to be made by mankind. And I hope we will be successfull one day.
The universe is so beautifull. Why aren't we?
