Personal background
I am an Electrical Engineer and Physicist that has specialized in the Information Technologies for the past 15 years.

At 57 years old and having lived all over this planet, studied as much as I have (and will continue), I firmly believe we are not alone.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Since I design, maintain, and modify computers and computer networks for businesses, I often have a huge amount of unused CPU time. As a scientist and engineer I hate to see it wasted. The needed number crunching for the SETI program is an ideal program to be keeping my idle loops to a minimum. The old computer parts I get after upgrading client sites I cobble together into machines and let them run SETI. They’re all sitting in my basement. Great way to keep my basement warm in the winter.

This project has the best of intentions; I believe it is a valid use of the Internet and my (our) computer resources. I’d love to see the BOINC application ported onto NetWare. That Network Operating System is so efficient and stable there would be a huge additional contribution to this program.
