Artanicus - The Profile

  • Interests

    • Computers including both software and hardware, Linux and *shrug* also Windows.. d:
    • Fantasy, art, books, RPG, etc etc.. (:
    • Scouting and wondering around in forests etc etc.. I also love the nature.. (:

  • Me at Seti@Home
    I managed to process some 270 WUs in classic during the little over 1 month period I was participating.. Too bad could transfer them over to boinc.. /:
    I want to have some use for my servers and other comps that are on 24/7 anyways, so seti@home and and boinc are perfect for putting those idle loops to use.. (: And gotta say, I wana get to the big package amounts.. abit greedy id say.. d:

  • A note on my comps
    Whenever possible on a machine I use Slackware.. So most of my major crunching PCs are / will be runnig Slackware.. Unfortunately some comp's OS isnt under my control, so the rest are *shrug* Windows machines.. d:

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home

1.
To put my idle loops to use
To help science and help in the coming of distributed computing

2.
Boinc atleast has been pretty.. scruffy.. well.. SUCKY at the beginning.. Launched too fast.. But to stick to the subject and Seti@Home, its been pretty good... No probs aslong as you keep a cache to cover those server blackouts.. (;
3.
Buy some more servers.. You can never have too manym and they realy arnt that expensive.. Well, atleast cheaper than loosing half your members due to a sucky start with servers down all the time and no work to be done..
Do a second update of Classic members to Boinc.. Not that it can save me anymore now that ive created a new account with the same email address, but there are people who are crunching like hell but have joined only a few months ago.. ): Its nasty to loose those points.. d:
