My name is Richard Van Doel, a 21 Year Naval Veteran living in the Midwest of the USA.
Married, two daughters – 1 married, 1 in college as a percussion performance major!
1 son who is a freshman in High School.
Hobbies include golf and black powder rifle and pistol shooting.
My ICQ number is 437013 and I have been involved with SETI since 1999.

Yes I do beleve that there is extraterrestrial life, If we are the discoverer of life I do not believe that this will happen until we better understand or overcome the limitations of chemical rocket engines or how to transmit radio signals at greater than the current limitations.
Since we have sent out calling cards radio, television, sat's that have exited our solar system in a way we have already taken the initiative to send an invatation so to speak.
Benefits and Risk's this is always a challenging discussion since in our history the strong almost always exploit the weak. This is the non-flattering side of human development.
I started running SETI@Home in 1999 and have done so in part to be a part of something noble and larger than myself in partnership with my fellow earthings!
