Profile: Benjamin D. Taylor (Norman, OK)

Personal background
I am 32 years of age, an aviation student belatedly pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Oklahoma. I have always had a fascination with math and science.
I am currently running SETI@home on my desktop and laptop, both running Windows XP. My Desktop crunches one unit every 4 hours or so and my laptop struggles through one every 24 to 30 hours.

Desktop: AMD Athlon XP 2000 266MHz FSB 256MB DDR running at 333MHz ///
Laptop: 266MHz Intel Pentium II
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I prefer to believe that the longevity of an advanced civilization is a relatively large number. This would improve the likelihood of other beings existing within reach of our SETI endeavors. Just as each of our computers is a small part of a larger complex, much more so is our precious little blue marble in our galaxy. I hope that our existence is not such a lonely one. Any efforts to make contact should be pursued despite our relatively primitive level of technology and scientific knowledge. This is one of many areas of scientific research where our funding should be directed.
If we do discover other forms of intelligence, it might provide a more powerful focus for the people of this world to unite and pursue the goal of peace and improving the quality of life for all.
