Personal background |
Hi,
I am from Nottingham, England.
I am currently 20 Years Old (21 in august), I have a few interests which include Star Trek, PC Gaming & trying to get a qualification for computers because that is where most my skills are based.
I currently work for a large Credit Card Company, as a Account Manager. Its great there, you are given FUN bugets(team nights out money) and have a competive pension & bonus plan.
I will put more information about myself on this profile at a later date (probably because I only have 5 mins to do this) |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Does ET life Exist? It is ignorant to say it doesn’t. There are more stars the space than there are grains of sand on earth, so are we the only planet out there with life, I think you stand more chance of winning the lottery.
We have now detected other planets around far distant stars. It is only a matter of time before we find a planet that lies in an orbit that will allow life (as we know it) to evolve (liquid Water).
But how will we first detect signs of an advanced ET culture?
Well it will probably be through projects like this, there is that much data to process looking for possible signs of ET life.
Shall we send a message; someone else might be listening?
Yes, sending a message would be a great way to let someone else know we are here, but we must think how to send it. I think we should send 2 types of messages, one as a RF transmission (maybe microwave), and also as a light beam (laser), this way we have the chance of getting a message to a ET culture, because if they are more advanced than ourselves they would be using a from of long-distance communication that may be based on light because of its speed.
What should the message say?
I think it should contain basic mathematical information, like prime numbers, this shows we are intelligent, then maybe some sort of mathematical algorithm that could be used to decode a more complex message advising our location in the Milky Way
