Personal background
I was born in Hoyerswerda (in the former German Democratic Republic) on November 19th, 1973. In 1988 we moved to a village near Stuttgart, Western Germany. From 1995 till 2001 I studied medicine in Tuebingen, Germany. Actually I'm working as a physician in the Department of Cardiology in the Hospital of Friedrichshafen. It's a city at the Lake Constance. My hobbies are dancing and Linux. My first Linux installation is about 6 years ago. It was on my first computer with a 100Mhz AMD486DX4. I gave it to my parents, because they didn't own one. I bought a new one, a 333Mhz Intel Celeron. This one is also in the possesion of my parents (the bought it for some money), because the old one wasn't fast enough any more. Nowadays, i'm sitting in front of my girlfriend's computer, a 1600Mhz Athlon. I had to buy a new harddisk to install Debian, because I'm a Linux fan.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I've heard about the Seti@Home project several years ago. During studying I didn't have access to the internet from home and I forgot that really cool project. Last week I read an article in the PC-Direkt magazine about several DC projects. The Seti@home project was mentioned too and five days later, i returned my first WU. I like Kirk and Picard and their crews and maybe together we can find Klingons. The main reason is my interest in the idea of sharing resources over the internet and that's the why i support Seti with some cpu time of my computer(s).
