Personal background
Hello everyone! My name is Xanadu De Leon. I'm a 22 yr. old male from San Antonio, Texas. I'm currently working for the public library system here in my city as a Dept. Syst. Aide. I mostly spend my time removing programs like these from my branch terminals, but it's ok for me to have one here at home. :p I've even tried lobbying the Board to lax our policy and allow me to install SETI@home on our workstations at my branch...but no luck. :( My hobbies include hanging out with friends, playing PC games (first-person shoot'em ups, role playing), shooting pool, playing sports, and anything that keeps me occupied.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Hmmm...opinions opinions opinions. Attempting to contact other forms of life elsewhere in the universe would be the only logical step in evolving as a species...of course there are others. I do believe that extraterrestrial life exists...it's only a matter of time before we come across it. Who knows...there could have been other life forms living on other planets in the solar system's early years...they might not have even been carbon-based.

Our effort should mostly be put forth contact and communication at the moment. Our society in it's present state is too fragile to comprehend and accept another life form presence in this universe...if we were to ever encounter it. It's like my chemistry instructor told me one day (during a convo about this matter)..."One person can be open minded...but society through peer-pressure could be ignorant." That's why I support SETI...because contact and communication are key.
