I believe in God, but also hope He put other life out there for us to find. If we found life out there, it wouldn't shake my faith, it would just be more of God's cool works to explore. I'm a techie at heart and finding life would be a great catalyst to improve our technology to go explore it.
I doubt we'll ever 'find' life out there while stuck on planet earth. If it exists, we'll have to go to it or it will show up here on its own.
There are too many other ways of communicating than what we are searching for; too many light years between; too many places to look; too many *everything* to make our feeble scans catch anything other than a truly accidental discovery.
However, here's to accidents! Cheers.
