I love doing SETI@home because it's the only program I use that does almost all the work for me. Also, my cat loves to see the blinking red dish on my screen. She thinks she can scratch it off but no such luck yet. She keeps reminding me that the dish doesn't blink as often as she'd like it to.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Of course extraterrestrial life exists and I hope that they are found in my lifetime. Personally I feel positive benefits would come from such discovery. If beacon would be transmitted it should contain the information that as humans we have made a mess of our planet and need help in saving the earth. We've done a great job in putting trash in space and should apologize for that. I run SETI@home because I believe that there are extraterrestrials out there and I want to help find what is out there.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
