Personal background
Let's see, where do I start. Currently I am in my mid forties, living in the LA area. I have been trying break into the computer support area as I have been retrained in the networking field. At this time though I am unemployed and will have resort to being a jet mechanic as I was for twenty years. Other than that I enjoy astronomy.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
As far as opinions go, I have a hard time believing that out of the vastness of space that we are the only intelligent life. Until we can find a wat to travel at the speed of light or faster, they will find us first. The benefits could very well change the face of humanity and the way we live. The dangers are always present and depending on a persons imangination, can vary greatly. You can't have the one without the other being present.

Humans have been transmitting a beacon for the past fifty years or so. If you are refering to a dedicated beacon, then I suggest that the information transmitted be the stellar coordinates of planet and solar sysem.

I run the program at home because I do believe we are not alone and this my way of helping find signals and being part of the search. I would like to be employed for SETI and be a bigger part of it.
