my name is Brian Koopman. I'm a 38 year old systems engineer, and I live in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
My hobbies are Astronomy, Darts, Soccer and several other things I won't bother you with.

I am sure ET is out there somewhere. It would be a little bit arrogant to think we are all alone in this universe, of any other universes for that matter. The only question is; when and how will we (finally) get the proof of this fact.
My vision on that, is that we will discover this with the Seti@Home program. How do we make contact? Hmm... not to sure. I don't think sending a SMS will do the trick in this case. Or any other means of radiocommunication. I just doesn't travel fast enough. On the other hand, we could ask ourselves the question if we are ready for such a contact or encounter. We can't even get along among ourselves, without causing problems or conflicts, let alone with some alien beeings. Our need to conquer and posess surpass our need for exploration and knowledge. Simply stated, I don't think we are mature enough to cope with sometning like this. And when our alien friends are not so friendly, and notice us... how will we protect ourselves?
Anyway... I think the Seti@Home project is great and although perhaps significant, pretty harmless when we really discover something one day. Because the signal will have travelled so long, a response will not be possible, or perhaps the adressee won't even exist any more.
I'm very very curious though.
Perhaps SETI could post some more results on the site, i'm sure that with this program some anomolies must have come up till now... What do they mean, where do they come from?
I'm sticking with the program, as long as I have a computer, no question about that.
