Personal background
I am a guy who was taught about the stars, from an early age. My dad is quite the astronomer. At 41 years old, I find myself looking up more frequently and wondering about things. I fix airplanes for a living, and have always been intrigued by the thought of spaceships. My brother turned me on to the SETI project. I have contributed over 7000 hours of CPU time, but my system will only kick out one work unit in about 80 hours so my contribution is not what I had hoped for. Reguardless, this is something I can do.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Q#1 You have to believe it is possible for the simple fact that the universe is so large. I feel we (humans) will in the next 100 years, probably visually, meaning, in person. The benefits will be uncertain, but I worry about the fear that could arise from such an event.
Q#2 As for this question, Is the planet ready to recieve an answer?
Q#3 I run this program for a simple reason...Because I can, and perhaps some of my wondering may be answered.
