Personal background
There is not much to say about me but at first i have to warn you about my english - i am from Austria.

My name is Thomas Jedinger and i am 18 now.

I am visiting (this easy school requires this word ;) ) an edv HTL in Austria because i like working with computers (includes gameing :) ).

My hobbies have a enormous range: doing any kind of sports, programming, playing computer games, i-net surfing, watching tv, (sleeping at school? *g*; no it is not a hobby) and so on ...
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do you think extraterrestrial life exists? If so, when and how will humans discover it? What are the possible benefits and dangers of such a discovery?

No question, extraterrestrial life exists! But if friend or foe... ? The only problem is that the universum is so big. If someone belives, thet only the earth has intelligent inhabitants, is wrong (ok, i am still looking for intelligent inhabitants on earth... *g*)
If there was a signal sent to earth, i hope SETI@home will find it - if not who else?

Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find? If so, what information should we send?

I think it is the best to send a logical/mathematical messages like some binary or prim numbers (2, 3, 5, ...) like in some nice films ;)

Why do you run SETI@home? What are your views about the project? Any suggestions?

I run SETI@home, because it seems to be great project and my PC's are nearly always on, but often to nothing. With SETI@home i get 2 flys with 1 punch: i take part on the SETI community and spend some searching time and my PC's find a new sense in life *g*

A nice goody for the SETI programm would be a checklist, where you can activate/deactivate some of the grafics (running the statuscounter, but NOT the enormous red and blue scala ... But i like the actual program too.

I hope we find the first "alien" :)
