Profile: Michael Snowden

Personal background
I'm a 19 year old male, born February 25, 1984. My main passion is science and technology, particularly computers. I'm currently employed (unproudly) at the local RadioShack store. For the curious, I live a few miles south of Balitmore City, in Glen Burnie, Maryland. It's a boring place, filled with the most technologically challenged people the world has to offer, so I tend to stick out like a sore thumb.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe in extraterrestrial life whole-heartedly. I take words from the movie "Contact" to describe my feelings on space: "If there's only us, it'd be an awful waste of space."

Sending out signals for others to find would be a great idea, but there would be some fighting over what to send, in what language (if there's speech involved), and who should send it. One would have to respresent humanity as a whole and not just one particular race or country.

I run SETI@home to do my small part in this great organized effort. Some call me a fool, but I believe the participants in this project will discover a race of beings other than our own. I just want to be part of that discovery in some way, even though I know I probably won't be the one to make the find.
