Personal background
Currently a software professional doing CAD tool development, have done hardware design in the past (worked on the DEC Alpha EV6 floating point unit). I've been composing music using homebrew software since before there was MIDI. I'm avidly interested in cosmology, the human mind (mostly the AI and philosophy angle).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
ET life must be out there. It would be outrageous if we were the first ones to appear in this entire universe (but hey, it could be!). Contact will be a huge risk. We will be transformed by it, if it happens. Curiosity may have killed the cat, but a curious cat the best kind of cat to be. SETI@home is a great example of how the internet is rapidly changing the world. What an exciting time to be alive!
