Personal background

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have always harbored dreams of the stars. I remember being as young as 8 reading Asimov and Heinlein. I remember going outside and being almost homesick as I gazed at the stars. Unfortunately, unless I am abducted 8-), I will never touch the stars except through projects such as SETI and in dreams. Maybe I will set those dreams down and write some fiction like the greats, and maybe I will inspire someone like me down the line who will be able to reach the stars. As for Life "out there", I believe that there must be. If one uses the most abysmal numbers in the Drake Equations, life still must be out there. What I am afraid of is that humanity may have arrived either too soon or too late to be part of a burst of life across our Galaxy. I don't think God would be so cruel to let us be eternally lonely.
