Profile: kalium

Personal background
Hi, my nickname is Kalium, I've a PhD in Chemistry and currently I'm involved
in basic research of organic photochemistry.
My hobbies are computer (programming) and electronic.
I've built a little beowulf PC system in my garage, but now it isn't operative at 100%.
I've the 33° degree in Carbon Club.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Surely I think that ET, intended as extraterrestrial life, really exist.
It's all a question of probability, there are billion of planets like Earth with similar possibilities of life existence.
As a chemist I know that all life-molecules are present in space, and they are created in space too.

Men had already transmitted signals in outspace in the old SETI program. Perhaps, intelligent beings on other planets could catch normal human's transmission. The unique problem is the speed of light, and till now it seems impossible to travel at higher speed. I would to say that a planet distant millions of light years will receive our signal next millions of years!

I run SETI@HOME 'cause as a researcher I like to search (and find) also when the possibilities are very low. An action is better of no-action, and we all are throwing away a lot of computing power with our PCs. The unique suggetion I could say is to use more radio telescopes in different country (earing different region of spaces).
