Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. don't know? why should we undertake this task. it's almost 100% certain that life exists elsewhere in the universe. the probability of contacting an existing species are practically zero. if intelligent life follows our pattern it will only be able to broadcast it's existence for a few millennia at most, (how much active broadcasting do we do? maybe we're all just listening.) any signal will almost certainly be from a long extinct far away life form. but you never know!

2. essential. extensive funding should be provided to not only listen but also set up orbital broadcasting stations that will continue after our eventual technological decline.

3. pray !
