Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that life exsists somewhere else or did at some time or will in the future. I believe that humans originated from another planet and where put on earth either by accident or on purpose. We may never discover life on other planets in the near future (up to 1000 years) because the universe has been around a lot longer than us and the odds are not very high that intellegent life on our level exsists anywhere near us at the same time as us in this phase of evolution.

The dangers are many and unpredictable. We may notify a hostile being that we are here or we may pollute a peaceful ignorant beings. I don't see how it is possible for us to relate in any way to any ET beings.

We may discover new elements or abundant elements that we are in need of.

Humans should not transmit a beacon, we could be inviting something we do not want.

I run seti@home because that data collected will help in many ways yet forseen.

The hunt for ET itself is probably a waste. The data collected however can tell us much about the universe.

My views on the project are to use the great computing power that is being used for analyzing the universe as to what is in it and it's potentials for us.
