Personal background
I am currently a senior at Peshtigo High School in Peshtigo, Wisconsin. Earlier this year I took a long distance course on astronomy and have stayed interested. I will be graduating on May 26th and will be shipping off for the Marines on July 23rd.

I became interested in the Seti project when i was reading the news on MSN the other day about a program that was used to find a cure for anthrax the same way that Seti works and it mentioned other programs like it, including Seti@home, further down.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I think extraterrestrial life exists, i don't know when or how we will discover them, chances are they are probably studying us right now and waiting for a good time to make their presence known since our civilization would panic of ships came flying out of space right now.

2. I think we should transmit some sort of signal for others to see. The one problem is though for it to have maximum efficiency we would have to send it in every direction, not just one direction and let it go straight. Also art should be used since it is easier to understand than a different written language.

3. I run SETI@home because i paid good money for my computer and i want to feel like i'm a part of something much bigger than myself, other than the military. I also hope that one day i will be a more indepth member of the project by joining SETI and working with them to find alien civilizations.
