Personal background

I live in Phoenix, Arizona, and play with computers for a living (bioinformatics). I've been using SETI@Home to chew up spare CPU cycles (and perform some useful science) since June of 1999. That's me in the photo above when I visited the Arecibo Observatory (I used to travel to Puerto Rico for business pretty frequently).

When I'm not playing with computers to put bread on the table, I enjoy hiking. I live close enough to Camelback Mountain in Phoenix, so you may find me there any given weekend.

Two of my other interests are history (particularly manned spaceflight) and industrial archaeology. These interests come together along with my questionable HTML and photography skills at my website: the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station Virtual Tour (at http://www.robsv.com/cape).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home

I think the universe is an awfully big place, and it wouldn't surprise me if there were sentient life to be found elsewhere.

Favorite SETI-related headline (spotted years ago on the cover of that renowned scientific journal, The Weekly World News): "Aliens Land and Reveal Amazing 7-Day Diet Plan!"
