Profile: Rick Wessels

Personal background
I am a 28 year old male, who is currently seeking work. I am a certified Lotus Notes administrator. My primary hobby is to try and help others get more out of their computer systems.

I fervently wish that we as a society would spend a lot more on space exploration. I think that all to often our politicians use the cost of space exploration as a crude way of making sure we don't do it. I only ask, what is the cost of not doing it?
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I run SETI@home because it is the least I can do to continue mankinds search for new frontiers and new knowledge. And in the hopes that we will eventually once and for all answer the question, are we alone in the Universe.

2. I think that it is one of the most important endeavors in all of human history. And if it is successful then it will have been with the help of everyone who has donated their time and computers to the project.

3. Work to make this project and space exploration in general more well known to the masses. Don't let politicians be the final word on space. Don't let them use the troubles here on Earth as an excuse to not fund the space programs.
