Hi, I'm Mike. I'm currently at QUB studying Physics and I thought I should donate some free CPU cycles to Seti. The personal computer is a 3.00GHz P4 HT, running with 2.5GB of RAM. There are 2 hard drives, one 80GB and one 500GB, the larger storing data such as movies, music and pictures.
The server is a P4 2.53GHz with 512MB RAM. Nothing special. Just runs a webserver and is therefore idle most of the time.
Laptop is a Dual Pentium processor at 1.46GHz running 4GB RAM. I only run SETI on it when I have it connected to power.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I run SETI@home because I have a number of computers that I am willing to use for scientific reasearch, especially considering they are generally idle.
The project is a certainly an interesting way to save on parallel computing costs, and actually makes fairly good sense considering most people have a computer that idles a fair amount of the time. |
