Profile: Tytan

Personal background
I used to work as a system administrator among other things in New York. I came back to Japan after 15 years living in US. Now I work for a linux company in Japan .

I have been hooked with computers since I saw T2 (you know what "T2" is you sci fi buffs). Computer science was kinda fun, but I actually wanted to learn more about CG stuff. So I took some art classes to satisfy my creative cravings, but at the end, I realized artists won't make as much money as system administrators unless you are "there" :P So here I am. Working 9 to 5.

I love fiddling with my PCs. I have been using water-cooled system for about 6 years now. I have melted some stuff in my PC with my peltiers, but haven't fried any of my CPUs so far :D The thought of dual core CPUs makes me drool all over my keyboard. Yummy.

I started S@H back in 1999. I was never an uber cruncher, but I kept going with my best effort (and with some water :P).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am not sure if ETs would try to make contact with us by standard radio communication. They may say "what? radio? No just give me your AIM". Who knows.

I like the idea of distributed computing. It's like a ghetto super computer. Let us own "the Earth Simulator" with our 486s!

If I find ETs, do I get to name them? Is it OK if I name them "little green men" even if they are large hairy asexual creatures?
