Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI@HOME

Personal Opinions

Extraterrestrial Life
We cannot be the only beings in this huge and mostly undiscovered universe. I strongly support the SETI@HOME project and feel that this project may discover E.T. life. The benefits and/or dangers of any E.T. discovery could only be answered when this event happens. How do you know if the E.T. (s) we find will be microscopic cells or 10 foot tall giants? Neither would necessarily be a danger nor a benefit to us. This is to be determined when the time comes.

Transmitting a Beacon into Space
I understand that the U.S. has been doing this for many years. What would I send as a beacon? I would send all levels of mathematic computations. I would send images of human emotions. I would send various language forms of writing and speaking.

Why Run SETI@HOME?
Anyone who has any hope of finding E.T. should be running the SETI@HOME project. The statistics for the amount of time that persons who currently run the SETI@HOME screensaver has collectively, as of this exact moment, is 752,202.051 years worth of searching. Keep in mind that this amount of data having been processed has been accomplished in only 2½ years!!

Suggestions
SETI@HOME is a terrific program. It’s a brilliant way of searching for E.T. Two suggestions I would give would be 1) to saturate the world with the information of the SETI@HOME project in hopes of more people participating and 2) make available the SETI@HOME program in at least 10 – 15 languages for global distribution.
