Personal background
Personal computer user since the first PC with a 6800 microprocessor back ??? (can not recall). Must have been well before 1980.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Extraterrestrial life almost certainly exists, and some very very small fraction of instances will have developed intelligence and technology for interstellar communication. Should we transmit a beacon? Well, we probably don't need to bother and I suspect that the difficulty of funding such a project is not worth the trouble of even trying. I run SETI@home just because I can, because it may contribute something, and why not?
