Profile: Sungak

Personal background
I am a Sun UNIX Systems Administrator, and my main duties are to keep watch over our system overnight (late night shift) and to maintain certain systems I have knowledge in (like backups and our monitor system). In my off-hours I will tinker with my PCs, play computer games, and collect rare PC game-related items such as soundtracks and DVDs shipped by the game company. Sungak was my first 'social' online persona, back when the only multiplayer games were the MUDs (anyone remember Renegade Outpost in '92-'93?); He is now my primary Internet persona.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The most important question should not be if there is intelligent life besides us (that's nearly a given even if the chance is 0.1% with the current measured size of the universe). The _real_ question should be if the first aliens we 'officially' meet are hostile or not. Will they be like Larry Niven's Kzin, who feel the universe is theirs to conquer? Or perhaps aloof yet powerful like Arthur C. Clarke's Ramans? My personal view is that the universe is most like what has been put forward in the post-TV books for 'Doctor Who': A true diverse mix of all types of cultures and outlooks, like we have here on Earth.
And we should not let our current predjudices cloud our judgement to these beings.
