Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
It is very possible, that ET life exists. But it may be very different from that we expect. It is possible we even didn't notice it for that reason. There is no evidence for now that we are not alone in the Univerce, but there is no evidence for the opposite, so we must keep trying! I suppose the main risk if we eventually find "someone sentient" is to establish an understanding to each other. This may cause unpredictable results. But despite that i think we must declare we're here, transmitting a beacon, if there is technical and economical possibility. This will increase the probability of eventual contact.
I've learn for SETI in now distant 1984 (i was 10 years old), from astronomy textbook, written by proffessor Dinah Moshe. The project take my fantasy. It was and still is, for me, a symbol of a human's spirit of discovery and desire for knowledge. But I never even dream I will be part of this project! I'm proud to be a part of it and to offer my humble support for the cause!
