Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. The universe is too large. So the fact, that humans are the only life form is nonsence. As for when, may be tommorow, may be never. May be the history of human civilization will be too short. As for how, i don't know.
But radio is not the best method of communication.
Our signals start ~ 100 years ago. "They" can find us from the distanse
~ 946080 bln km.
So we do.
More distant signals meanes more years passed from the moment they start.
The civilization that is the sourse of such signals may rich unbelivable progress and is not interested in us. Or be destroyed.
So the fact of reseiving such signal only proves the presence of other life form in universe.
You may go to the begining of my message ;)
We are interested in contacts, aren't we ;)
I think that radio is interesting like a method to detect local communication between base ship and its modules.
When they don't use super puper itergalaxy comunicators :)))
What about benefits and dangers, i'm not a SF wrighter. They show us all possibilitis i think.
2. To transmit others to find, see #1. We sent signal when discoverd radio. And are sending it for 100 years to all sides of universe.
3. Why.......
May be i still don't grow up......
May be that is more interesting, then job and career.....
