My name is Jan-Patrick and I am 18 years old. I live with my family in a small village at the Baltic Sea in Northern Germany. I still attend school, but this year is my last year and then I will get my "Abitur", if I will pass my examn.;)
I like watching science-fiction shows on televison and movies about this topic. My favorite show is and will always be STAR TREK but I like the other stuff too if its made good! *g* To earn money for myself I work at a gas station in the next bigger town, a very hard job, but it is building me up.
When I am not sitting at my PC I enjoy meeting with my girlfriend and all my other friends to have some fun and have a great party. But this is mostly at the weekend or the holidays. :-)
What else to say about me? I love the stars, watching and oberserving them and everything around this topic. I have a telescope, but have not time to use it. So SETI@HOME is my chance to enjoy the stars and helping to find "the truth out there"! *lol*

Yes, I think that there is life outside our solar system. It would be such a waste of space if we were the only intelligent lifeform in the whole universe. I think it will take at least 10 to 25 years until we will discover that we are not alone, but I think meeting a species, which will make contact with us may it be friendly or hostile, will take at least 100 years. For me mankind is not as developed as it should be now. For some extraterrestial species we would be primitives, so why should they make contact with us?
Meeting other species may bring a lot of benefits but also a great number of dangers. If they were hostile, we would never have a chance to handle this because they have to be more developed than mankind. But if they were friendly, they could bring a lot of new ideas and technology to earth, but if we are able to handle this, cannot be answered yet.
It will take a while to answer the other "topics" SETI suggested, so you will to have come back here and read more of my opinion! :-)
