Personal background
I am from Newton, Iowa.
I am 45.
I am a CPA.
My hobbies are computers, golf (when I can get on the course), and hopefully star gazing (I just got my first telescope last year).
I have always been a science fiction buff and tried over the years to keep up with the space program. I guess I am a frustrated astronaut want-to-be.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes, I do believe that extraterrestrial life exists.

As will many great discoveries it will be by accident, a wrong setting on an instrument, a miscalulation that produces a sign from another being.

Knowledge will hopefully be a benefit.

Dangers should be left up to sci-fiction. If we fear the unknown, it will remain, unknown!!!

Yes, a beacon should be sent, with information about where, what and our reason for our search.

I found the site in an old Popular Science Magazine (my teen age son intercepts them before I can read them it took me 2 years to get this one back) and thought it would be a great way to help in some small way! It is also something I can show the kids so they might explore their interest in space and extraterrestrial life.

I think this project is great. I let's me contribute in a small way to SETI research.
